In Brussels' Jubelpark/Parc du Cinquantenaire, FINEO by AGC contributed to the restoration of the façade of the Aviation Hall of the Royal Military Museum, home to a unique collection of historic aircrafts. Together with the Buildings agency (building owner and architect), the restoration expert Monument Van de Kerckhove and Laeremans Geert nv (welding and steel construction), this collaboration helped preserve one of the most remarkable steel-and-glass structures in the country. The vast glass façades, the refined steel structures and the monumental scale make this project a truly exceptional feat of heritage conservation. Restoring an iconic building means more than simply repairing the wear of time. It means preserving the soul of the building while preparing it for the future through energy-efficient upgrades. The glazing in the arch-shaped façade of the Aviation Hall was therefore replaced with FINEO vacuum insulating glazing. Certified FINEO installer Laeremans Geert nv installed FINEO Heritage Classic 8 into the steel frames of this historic glass façade. FINEO Heritage is FINEO's restoration glass suitable for restoring and preserving the visual appearance of glass installed in buildings built from the 1880s through to the 1960s. This uniquely slim monumental insulating glazing (only 11 mm thick in the Classic 8 version) fits perfectly into characteristic single-glazed windows or façades, preserving the original appearance of historic buildings and homes while significantly improving thermal and acoustic insulation.
